Political group from Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark zuckerberg
Northern, WI 03/27/2013 (avauncer) - Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, is all set to don yet another hat. According to Evelyn Rusli of Wall Street Journal, the 28-year old is organizing a political advocacy group which would consist of top 10 leaders form the technology fraternity to bring out legislative reforms on as diversified subjects as immigration and education.
Mark Zuckerberg is believed to be forming the organization along with his close friend and once his roommate in Harvard University. The group is believed to be introduced formally in the next couple of weeks. This group as reported by WSJ would be raising a sum of approximately $50 Million to give shape to its ambitious plans.
Evelyn Rusli has been said to have also reported that the group which have not been named as of now has already accumulated tens of millions of U.S. dollars from Mark Zuckerberg. Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn has also been reported of contributing along with over a dozen of tech executives. National Republican Senatorial Committee’s former executive director, Rob Jesmer is participating actively on a day to day basis in the activities of the group. This ensures that Mark Zuckerberg has also included ace consultants veteran in Beltway politics. Former Press Secretary under the Bush administration, Joe Lockhart and a renowned strategist in the Republic, Jon Lerner are also associated with the group.
According to WSJ’s report, the group would get registered as a 501 (c) (4). These are non-profit organizations and are reserved as social welfare groups.
The group comprising top tech executives would concentrate on immigration issues prevailing in the nation so that immigrants can access a more uncomplicated and easy pathway to the country. The other areas which the group will focus on are education and funding avenues for scientific research amongst others.
