Medals for 66 Countries so far at London Olympics

As the London Olympics nears its end at the weekend, a quick look at the table to see how the medals have been distributed so far. 66 Countries have picked up medals so far at the games with China and United States vying for supremacy at the top. The Chinese lead the pack having hurled 77 medals in all; 36 gold, 22 silver and 19 bronze. The Americans are right behind with 82 medals in all albeit 34 gold, 23 silver and 25 bronze.

Its only a few days to go and several countries have yet to register a medal. From the bottom of the table with just a bronze to their account include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Morocco, Ireland, Argentina, Tajikistan, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan. Singapore, Qatar, Greece and Moldova are a class higher as they all have just one more bronze increasing their tally to 2 bronze each for the quartet.

Guatemala, Finland, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Cyprus and Portugal all have one medal each also however theirs fall in the Silver category. Indonesia, Estonia, Serbia, Tunisia, Thailand and Estonia are a step above with 1 silver and 1 bronze. Mongolia, Belgium and Armenia each have 3 medals; 1 Silver and 2 bronze but Slovakia have 1 Silver and 3 bronze same as India keeping them atop the log.

Hosts Great Britain have won 22 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze and are behind the United States. South Korea follow behind the hosts albeit with 12 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze. Russia has 11 gold, 19 silver and 23 bronze while Germany has 9 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze. Hungary has 8 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze while Italy are 9th on the table with 7 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze. Australia has 6 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze.

Kazakhstan who have 6 gold and 2 bronze stay on top of Netherlands who have won 5 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals. Japan have 31 medals but only 4 of the medals are gold hence they are 13th on the log. Iran follow behind Japan with same number of gold as the Japanese.

As the tournament draws to an end, countries will be looking to add to their tally or try to make their way into the Olympic table just to take something home at least.
