Bolt withdraws from Monaco tuneups
It appears the 100meters world record holder Jamaican Usain Bolt is finally beginning to feel the pressure with just a couple of days to the London Olympic Games. Bolt will miss the Monaco Olympic tuneup event because of a ‘slight problem’.
Bolt who is rarely second place in races have found himself second place twice behind fellow compatriot Yohan Blake who has beaten him twice already in a month.
Bolt has earlier dismissed claims that he is worried as according to him, he will only when his manager gets concerned about his performance and it appears that is the case now.
Coach, Glen Mills, said he had to withdraw the 100meters defending champion after a “careful assessment” found a “slight problem” that he wouldn’t elaborate on. The withdrawal he said will give Bolt “sufficient time for treatment and time to train and prepare for the Olympic Games in London.”
“After careful assessment I have had to withdraw him (Bolt) from the Samsung Diamond League Meeting in Monaco on July 20 to give him sufficient time for treatment and time to train and prepare for the Olympic Games in London,” Mills said.
Bolt said he will surely be at the Oympics; “I am happy to have earned my spot on the Jamaican Olympic team despite the challenge. I will be in London to defend my titles in the 100, 200 and 4×100 meters. I want to congratulate my fellow Racers Track Club Members along with the other athletes who made the team. I thank everyone for their support.”
The main attention of the Olympics will surely be rapt in the second week when the track events will be in full course and Bolt will be defending his titles. The first-round heats in the 100 at the Olympics are Aug. 4, with the semifinals and final slated for August 5th.
