All Set for BET 2012 Awards

Actor Samuel L Jackson will anchor the 2012 Edition of the BET Awards which will hold Sunday 1^st July at the Shrine Auditorium Los Angeles, California. As ever, the event is hosted annually to recognize American actors, musicians and sportsmen who have done excellently within the past one year.

Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston is among the array of artists expected to perform during the event. There would be a special tribute to the late singer. Other performers include; Charles Perry, Melanie Fiona, Y’Anna Crawley, Amber Bullock, Big Sean, D’Angelo, Nicki Minaj, Jennah Bell and Yolanda Adams among others.

Of the host of awards to be grabbed; Kanye West, Hype Williams, Chris Brown + Godfrey Taberez and Beyonce + Alan Ferguson will all slug it out for the video director of the year award while Marsha Ambrosius, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Melanie Fiona and Rihanna all go head to head for the Best Female R & B Artist.

In the Best Male R & B Artist awards, the winner would be chosen from either of Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Trey Songz or Usher. In the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist category, nominations are Big Sean, Drake, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. For the females; it is between Diamond, Nicki Minaj, Brianna Perry and Trina

Who would be crowned the Best New Artist of the year? The candidates are A$AP Rocky, Big Sean, Diggy, Future and Meek Mill. For the Best Group Awards the options are; Bad Meets Evil, Diddy Dirty Money, Maybach Music Group, Mindless Behaviour and The Throne.

Nominations for Best Actor include Don Cheadle, Common, Idris Elba, Kevin Hart and Denzel Washington. Best Actress- Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Zoe Saldana and Regina King.

Best Gospel Category; Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, James Fortune & FIYA, Fred Hammond and Trin-I-Tee 5:7. For the best movies category; Good Deeds, Jumping the Broom, Laugh At My Pain, Red Tails and The Help are the nominations.

The Subway Sportswoman of the Year would be between Skylar Diggins, Candace Parker, Brittney Griner, Serena Williams and Venus Williams. The Subway Sportsman of the year from Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, Victor Cruz, Kevin Durrant, and LeBron James.

Other awards include; Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice, Young Stars Award, Best International Act: Africa and Best International Act: United Kingdom
