Tony Pulis: 'Up to five signings imminent'

Chairman John Williams

Ahmed Hegazi scored on his Premier League debut as West Brom beat Bournemouth in a tepid encounter at The Hawthorns.

Pulis, 59, who was under contract for another 12 months, is set to remain at The Hawthorns to 2019 after extending his stay by a year and is confident his targets will be on board by the end of the month.

Tony Pulis' summer signings performed well, with another debutant Jay Rodriguez twice coming close, and it was a tidy opening day performance for the Baggies.

"We are a smaller, tighter squad then we were at this stage last season but I think the quality is higher and that could be a key difference".

"We've taken Ahmed out of Egyptian football and he looks to be a really good buy for us".

US Navy destroyer conducts operation in South China Sea
DFA spokesman Robespierre Bolivar stressed ASEAN did not ignore China's continued reclamation activities in the South China Sea. The USS John S McCain destroyer cnducted a fereedom of navigation patrol in disputed waters of the South China Sea on Thursday.

"We know what we're after and we are desperate to bring them in, but must be patient".

The demands of the Premier League make it hard to blood academy talent and Pulis accepts the priority is to maintain the club's top-flight status.

It has also been alleged that the Baggies have been considering a move for out-of-favour defender Thomas Vermaelen, who would give the Midlands-based outfit invaluable experience of the Premier League through his time at Arsenal, having lost Darren Fletcher earlier in the transfer window.

West Brom were much the better side and made their dominance pay in the 31st minute as Chris Brunt swung a right-wing free-kick to the back post, where Hegazi rose to head through the legs of Begovic and in.

The Baggies chairman said: "We are continuing a transition from one ownership to another and it is absolutely essential that this process is accompanied by stability within the club". I thought we were ready.
