Emphasising on the need to make people aware of the disease, Meherda said the government is taking all possible steps to deal with the situation arising out of swine flu as well as dengue.

As many as 16 fresh cases of swine flu were detected on Sunday taking the total number of persons affected with the viral infection to 119 in Odisha so far this year. "However, there is no need for panic as most of the swine flu cases reported in the state are brought by migrants from other areas", he said.

Meherda informed that Swine Flu has claimed eight lives in Odisha so far while adequate measures are being taken to create awareness.
