The native of Shawville was suffering from colon cancer for a few years and was revealed in November 2014 that her illness was incurable.

He won the Jack Adams Award as the league's coach of the year in 1983-84 with the Capitals and the NHL Executive of the Year as general manager of the Panthers in 1996 after the team reached the Stanley Cup Final in just its third year of existence.

"While his warmth and dry sense of humor were always evident, they were accompanied by the fiery competitiveness and determination that were his trademarks", Bettman said. Bryan's contributions to the game of hockey were outstanding, from his impact in Washington to his more recent service as a senior hockey advisor with the Ottawa Senators.

David Poile, the former Washington and current Nashville general manager, said Murray's teaching background made him a natural for coaching.

Known throughout the hockey world for his quick, acerbic wit, sharp eye for talent and vast knowledge of the game, Murray also had tremendous communication skills and put those to use after his cancer diagnosis in imploring people to get a colonoscopy.

15 martyred, 25 injured in bomb attack on army truck in Quetta
A large number of police, and paramilitary troops rushed to the area and helped rescuers shift the dead and injured to hospitals. Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa termed the attack an attempt to mar the August 14 Independence Day celebrations.

My own came about 4 years ago, the only time I met the man. After an internal debate about whether to approach him for a brief interview, I made a decision to go for it, and he accommodated me with a little Q & A during the first intermission of the game.

Pollin's gut was right. They had just one victory when he took over. The Capitals won 39 games, 12 more than their previous high, and advanced to the playoffs for the first time, even taking a game from the Islanders before succumbing to the eventual Stanley Cup champions in the Patrick Division semifinals.

Murray, a native of Shawville, Quebec, had record of 620-465-23 coaching record with 131 ties in 17 National Hockey League seasons, and won the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year with the Capitals in 1983-84, guiding them to a 48-27-5 record. In Murray's four years behind the Senators bench, he led the franchise to four consecutive playoff berths. Prior to the 2016 season, he stepped down as Senators GM to take on an advisory role in the organization during his treatment.

Along with coaching the Ducks (2001-02) and Ottawa (2005-08), Murray also helmed Washington (1981-89), Detroit (1990-93) and Florida (1997-98) as he compiled a 620-465-131-23 record in 1,239 games.

Tim Murray was mentored by his uncle and served as the Senators assistant general manager until leaving to become general manager of the Buffalo Sabres from 2014-17. There was no hope for a cure, only to prolong his life for as long as comfortably possible via chemotherapy.
