Iran parliament ratifies legislation to counter U.S. anti-Iran moves

US Sanctions Pave Road To War

A total of 240 parliamentarians out of 244 present voted for the bill.

On July 18, the U.S. Administration announced putting on a blacklist 18 organizations and persons, supporting the Iranian ballistic missile program, Iran's military purchases and IRGC.

The measure came after President Donald Trump signed into law a bill passed by US Congress to impose new sanctions on Iran over its missile program in early August. A session in which members of parliament chanted "Death to America".

It mandates the government to allocate an additional Dollars 260 million for the "development of the missile programme" and the same amount to the Revolutionary Guards' foreign operations wing, the Quds Force, state news agency IRNA said.

The parliament has approved 16 measures that Tehran will take to counteract Washington's hostile acts against the Islamic Republic, Larijani said, according to Tasnim.

He praised the bill, saying it "was designed wisely so that it does not violate the (nuclear deal) and provide excuses for opposing sides".

Action again North Korea's ballistic missiles a hard call for US
A THAAD battery includes a truck-mounted launcher, tracking radar, interceptor missiles and an integrated fire control system. Pyongyang identified three of those areas - Shimane, Hiroshima and Kochi prefectures - in its statement last week.

A second vote will now take place on the bill before it is submitted to a clerical body for final approval.

Iranian officials deem the anti-Iran sanctions over its ballistic missile program and alleged "support for terrorism" in violation of the spirit, if not the letter, of the JCPOA.

Trump repeatedly threatened to tear up what he once called "the worst deal ever", but last month he backed away from a key campaign promise to withdraw from the nuclear agreement.

Tehran says its missile program does not breach a United Nations resolution which endorsed the nuclear deal.

To counter United States economic sanctions, the government has been ordered to provide a comprehensive plan on expanding economic cooperation with world countries, especially Iran's neighbors and friends as well as the countries which have likewise been subject to Washington's embargoes.
