Chelsea to make an improved £25m bid

Fosse Posse XI

According to Matt Law's report in the Telegraph, Chelsea have yet to follow-up on a rejected £15 million bid made "earlier in the window" for Leicester City for midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who's now sidelined with a thigh injury.

A new central midfielder to replace Nemanja Matic following his £40m move to Manchester United is a priority and Drinkwater has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks. Still according to the Telegraph, their second offer will likely be close to the 25 million pounds mark. And while Kante has since departed to Stamford Bridge, Drinkwater is still contracted to Leicester, despite being interested in a move to the London club. It is understood that the England global himself is interested in a move to Stamford Bridge and the move could be finalised in the coming days.

It is not a secret that Antonio Conte wants his club to sign a few more players before the end of the transfer window as Chelsea have so far signed Caballero, Rudiger, Bakayoko and Morata.

The Telegraph say Chelsea tabled an initial offer of £15m for the England global some weeks ago but have not followed up with an improved bid.

Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper suffers ugly-looking knee injury
The 24-year-old is as fearsome a hitter as anyone in the sport, reaching the All-Star Game in four of his first five seasons. Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper left the first inning of Saturday's game with an apparent knee injury.

"I think we've got owners who want to keep their best players, and the reality is we're living with the current situation of the transfer window".

Drinkwater, 27-years-old, played an important role alongside N'golo Kante in Leicester's monumental title-winning campaign two years ago.

Drinkwater and Kante were key figures in the Foxes winning the Premier League two seasons ago as they partnered each other in a midfield that outplayed the rest of the division and the England global is believed to be interested in a reunion with his former teammate.
