Sammy Watkins Traded To Rams; Bills Acquire Jordan Matthews In Separate Trade

Sammy Watkins traded to NFC team

But they bypassed the cannonball from the side of the pool and went straight for the high dive. Matthews plays predominantly in the slot and is more likely a replacement for Robert Woods, who was signed this past offseason to the Los Angeles Rams. He was drafted by Philadelphia 42nd overall in the second round of the 2014 draft. But they immediately replaced Watkins in a separate trade for Philadelphia Eagles wideout Jordan Matthews.

So what exactly did the Bills get out of all this? Now it looks like that roster will be built in a new direction in the coming seasons.

It's not hard to see why the Bills might not be thrilled with him. In his three years in Buffalo - the last two in Rex Ryan's run-oriented offense and with multiple quarterbacks - Watkins had 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 touchdowns and averaged 16.1 yards per catch.

When he was on the field, though, Watkins was a stud.

The changes at wide receiver are stunning, but it pales in comparison to the secondary. And Matthews is a very good receiver.

Watkins dealt with nagging calf and ankle ailments in 2015, though he caught for 900 yards over the last nine games to register his first 1,000-yard season.

A person familiar with the decision says Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have surgery to fix the torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the entire season. Robert Woods, the former USC standout and a polished three-year National Football League wide receiver, was added to supply professionalism and reliability. "He's, like, just Sammy Watkins".

PDP extends Makarfi's tenure, dissolves Excos In 7 states
The only thing that shows there is democracy is the legislature and that is why we (lawmakers) are here in our large numbers. Eric Kelechi Igwe, National Vice Chairmen, State Chairmen, Party stalwarts and other leaders of the PDP nationwide.

Watkins and Matthews will both become unrestricted free agents in March.

Matthews posted 804 yards and three touchdowns with the Eagles in 2016. It could look something like the Tennessee Titans of last season, though similar efficiency is certainly not guaranteed. Executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman has a history of re-upping homegrown players early if they have been identified as part of the core.

Buffalo's starting receivers weren't the only two to leave the team. Gaines is in a contract year.

Watkins' departure strips quarterback Tyrod Taylor of his top passing target this season.

In each of the two trades, draft picks were involved. It's hard to imagine the Bills think swapping Watkins and Darby for Matthews and Gaines will be an upgrade for 2017. But this isn't just about the upcoming season.

The Bills' decision to trade their top receiver and top cornerback for future draft picks signals that first-year general manager Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott view the team as a long-term rebuilding project. That's a nice little setup they have going on there. The Buffalo Bills haven't made a postseason appearance since the team was stunned by the Tennessee Titans via the "Music City Miracle" in the 1999 AFC Wild Card Playoffs.
