Mo Farah beaten in his last ever track race

Bolt defeat proves'anything is possible, says 5,000m favourite Farah

This seemed like it was a race too far for our hero.

The Briton is aiming to complete an unprecedented World Championship triple-double, having retained his 10,000m title on the first day.

Farah narrowly missed out on a remarkable fifth consecutive major championships distance double in London but don't say he settled for silver.

Farah collapsed to the track before being encouraged to get up for an embrace with his wife Tania and four kids who had joined him on the lap of honour last week.

In what was his last major track appearance before retirement later this month, the 34-year-old finished with a time of 13 minutes 33.22 seconds - almost one second behind gold-winner Muktar Edris of Ethiopia.

Farah did a little boxer's routine as he took to the line psyching himself up for another bruising battle like the 10,000m where he was spiked and nearly elbowed off the track.

Paul Chelimo of the United States took bronze.

It is also about Kenya's bid to end 12-year gold drought in men's 5,000m, which Benjamin Kipkoech Limo last won in Helsinki, Finland, in 2005.

Preview: Usain Bolt, the superstar who made athletics fun and watchable for the past decade returns to the track for the final time Saturday to run on Jamaica's 4x100-meter relay team.

"I gave 110 per cent", he said in the immediate aftermath.

"And I went, "Anything you want to do, really". For all the young kids out there, you should believe that you can do it as well".

"I have a few more races on the track and then I will take a short break and then this chapter of my life is closed".

"I want athletes with opinions, I want them with views".

"It was close but not close enough but when I reflect I've got to be happy with that in my first-ever high jump final", she said.
