Late goal gives Arsenal EPL thriller win

Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he will stay at Arsenal after netting a dramatic victor in their opening day Premier League victory over Leicester City.

Former Manchester United man Danny Welbeck also found the back of the net at the end of the first half, while substitute Aaron Ramsey scored the third goal just minutes before Giroud's victor. "Giroud in his prime is at the top of his game".

"At some stage it didn't look like (a win)". For us we thought about the issue of who we wanted to take us forward.

"If you look at the third goal, I'm a bit disappointed with the handball leading up to it but that aside, once you get the corner, you have to defend it better".

Alexandre Lacazette and Shinji Okazaki bagged the first two goals of the season after just a few minutes, and Jamie Vardy and Danny Welbeck added to the scoreline before the end of the first half.

Albrighton relishes link up with new Leicester City star
We've got a big and fit squad with plenty of competition for places and I'm really looking forward to it myself. With three weeks of the transfer window remaining, a handful of Foxes stars have been linked with other clubs.

One new recruit, defender Harry Maguire, felt Leicester gave the hosts a run for their money and - despite heading back to the east midlands with nothing to show for it - believes the display will hold them in good stead.

Arsenal didn't get off the most convincing start against Leicester tonight, but Giroud more than proved his worth to the club by finding a victor after a real scare from the visitors.

Vardy put the visitors 2-1 ahead just before the half hour, darting into the box to rifle another fine Albrighton cross past Cech after the winger had pounced on a poor square ball from Arsenal midfielder Mezut Ozil.

But Giroud made his mark on Arsenal's new campaign on Friday as his late header secured a 4-3 win at home to Leicester City, who had led when the forward came off the bench.

Leicester showed some of the form that won them the title in 2016 and helped stave off relegation last term but in the end they were undone by canny France worldwide Giroud who has been linked with a move away from Arsenal all summer.
