Scientists report drastic impact of climate change on US

Tom Toles Paris Climate Agreement repeal and replace

The newspaper, who has been in direct battle with the White House this week, says in releasing the assessment that the White House nor EPA has responded to calls or emails requesting comment. The report points to Hurricane Sandy as a moment when climate change exacerbated the damage, because rising sea levels increased the threat of storm surge, which contributed to flooding in coastal areas in the Northeast. Thanks for having me.

This report's leaking comes removed from additional email leaks from within the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported by The Guardian.

More record-setting years will be routine in decades to come.

Tillerson's cable came a little more than two months after Trump announced that the USA would withdraw from the landmark Paris climate deal and on the day that the administration was reviewing a climate change report prepared by 13 federal agencies, the conclusions of which conflict with administration perspectives.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Some critics said the findings falsely sound alarms. What's in there that's new and that matters that we hadn't heard before?

"It's either going to become an official USA government report, or it won't be, in which case we would have to find another outlet for it", an author of the report who asked not to be named told CNN, adding that its publication would shake the administration's claims on climate change.

The "U.S. Global Change Research Program Climate Science Special Report" released by the newspaper online still bears "draft" and "do not cite, quote, distribute" on virtually every page.

An early version of the report, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, was distributed widely in December for review by leading scientists.

One of the three lead authors is Donald Wuebbles, UI professor of atmospheric sciences and - until recently - a senior adviser at the National Science Foundation.

UK Mobile Operators To Trial Networks On London Underground
Transport for London will also be working at improving connectivity throughout London Underground, one of the largest blind spots in the city.

In the midst of a stifling Washington, D.C. summer two years ago, former President Obama appeared in the White House to paint a grim picture of the challenge global warming posed to the country. If it does go forward, it will publish sometime this fall.

The report says the only way to avoid the worst of climate change is to take a huge bite out of global greenhouse gas emissions. So far, there has been no evidence of that. The report acknowledges that fact.

The document, which was leaked ahead of publication and reported by The New York Times on Tuesday, said Americans were seeing more heat waves and rainfall as a result of climate change. Political appointees may make changes and deletions, although since the process is happening out of public view, there's no indication about whether that has happened.

This report doesn't offer policy prescriptions. And, you know, what I have heard from the scientists is that the real worry, if it's not made public, is that it won't be useful to people on the ground.

Among the more significant of the study's findings is that it is possible to attribute some extreme weather to climate change.

The report breaks down the likelihood and confidence in all the many projections - and also leaves open the door for unforeseen changes as the feedback loop of warming continues into the 21 century, they add.

Andy Rosenberg, director for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, said the fear is not necessarily a new one.

After Trump claimed that climate change is a "hoax" and claiming that 13 federal agencies have provided documentation that is "unambigious" regarding climate change, scientists are upping their game. And all eyes are on this administration to see how they handle it.

Lisa Friedman with The New York Times, thank you.
