US stocks open higher on Yellen comments, energy strength

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended up 0.2% each.

The S&P 500 gained 0.2 percent, with Target among the best performers.

Banks, which benefit from higher interest rates and are scheduled to report quarterly earnings on Friday, fared less well.

LONDON: European shares inched higher on Thursday, with investors less keen to chase the previous session's strong rally that came on the back of the relatively dovish tone struck by Fed chair Janet Yellen overnight. Big-dividend stocks like utilities and real estate companies rose as bond yields fell.
