Sigh: Why Is Trump Attacking His Own Deputy Attorney General on Twitter?

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is reportedly considering recusing himself from the Russia investigation

Citing Rosenstein's private remarks, ABC News reported that he may have to recuse himself from the investigation, potentially following in the footsteps of Attorney General Jeff Sessions who did so in early March in a move that continues to vex the American president.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein reiterated in a recent meeting that he may have to recuse himself from overseeing the special counsel's investigation into Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 election, sources told ABC News.

Donald Trump has appeared to confirm he is under investigation for obstruction of justice, claiming he is being probed for firing FBI director James Comey by the man who told him to do it.

Rosenstein was the author of the memo that made the case for Comey's firing, and now leads the Russian Federation investigation after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday confirmed he is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for firing ousted Director James Comey.

President Trump on Friday continued to belittle the investigations of his White House, again using the term "witch hunt" to describe them.

Cristiano Ronaldo in numbers
It was impossible to ignore Ronaldo, as his team mate Toni Kroos was quick to point out. We are the first team to win it two years in a row and I scored two goals .

Rosenstein has been overseeing the Russian Federation probe since shortly after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself. The first time he told Trump was in his first meeting with the then-president-elect before the inauguration, on January 6. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., wrote his own letter, insisting that Rosenstein's hard-earned reputation as an "apolitical actor" was "now imperiled" by the deputy attorney general's role in Comey's firing.

The Justice Department's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election is looking at Kushner's multiple roles in the Trump administration, including the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation; his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn; and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to U.S. officials briefed on the probe.

Comey has told lawmakers to give the notes that he took after each of his nine meetings or phone calls with Trumps to Mueller.

In a statement late Thursday, Rosenstein cautioned Americans against "accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials, ' particularly when they do not identify the country - let alone the branch or agency of government - with which the alleged sources are supposedly affiliated". Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations.

It was not clear what prompted the statement, although it came hours after The Washington Post reported that the business dealings of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are being examined as part of Mueller's investigation. She was appointed by former President Barack Obama to serve on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board and worked as an assistant attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, according to WHO-TV. Thursday night, Rosenstein issued an unusual statement complaining about leaks in the case. Rosenstein, the official who would be responsible for dismissing Mueller, told US lawmakers he would fire him only with good cause. She graduated from Harvard Law School and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, according to the Justice Department.

"As a matter of honor, and in light of his sworn testimony before Congress, Rosenstein would inevitably resign if confronted with a White House directive to dismiss the special counsel", he wrote.
