Donald Trump confirms he's under investigation over Comey firing

Mr Mueller was appointed as special counsel to investigate Moscow's involvement in the presidential election past year and possible collusion by Trump campaign associates with the Russians, but there has been no indication that Mr Mueller told the president to fire Mr Comey.

She was appointed by former President Barack Obama to serve on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board and worked as an assistant attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, according to WHO-TV. A recent Washington Post report said Trump is being investigated for possible obstruction of justice by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Mr Comey, who was sacked on May 9, told a Senate panel last week he believed Mr Trump dismissed him to undermine the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

Mr Trump, who is due to give a speech in Miami on Friday where he is expected to announce a shift in U.S. policy towards Cuba, also boasted about his deployment of social media, despite warnings by legal experts that his tweets may be used against him in the ongoing investigation.

"After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof".

As Bob Mueller, the special investigator now heading the Federal Bureau of Investigation s probe into allegations of Russian election meddling, filled out his legal team and prepared to begin interviews, Trump erupted furiously for a second consecutive day. "If the President tries to fire him to diminish or stop this investigation, I would hope that finally there would be a bipartisan uproar against it".

Trump has been doing nothing but watching TIVO'd cable news coverage, aides said, and griping about the probe. An official of Trump's transition confirmed the laywer's internal order sent Thursday.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?", Trump tweeted just before 4 p.m. EDT.

The most important takeaway from the president's tweet, Gergen continued, "is that the president has launched a campaign to discredit the special counsel and to discredit the investigations".

Trump's strategy for tweeting about what has become an obstruction of justice investigation focused on him is unclear. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who said she's anxious that the President will try to fire both Mueller and Rosenstein.

It was not clear what prompted the statement, although it came hours after The Washington Post reported that the business dealings of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are being examined as part of Mueller's investigation.

Fake NewsFox News have confirmed that this was all Rosenstein's shade to catch:Rosenstein's May memo critical of ex-FBI Director James Comey's performance was among the reasons cited by Trump and others in Comey's firing.

He had likened the appointment of the special counsel with the "single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history".

As head of the FBI, Comey had been leading the investigation until he was sacked by Trump on May 9. Manafort, Page and Stone have also been linked to the Russian Federation investigations.
