Scalise's condition improves, but more operations and long hospital stay expected

The hospital where Rep. Steve Scalise is recuperating from a gunshot wound says he "remains in critical condition, but has improved in the last 24 hours".

Scalise and five others were injured at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, while practicing for tonight's Congressional Baseball Game for Charity.

Sava declined to put a timeline on when that would happen, or when Scalise, 51, would be able to leave the hospital.

According to the pool report, the president and first lady were spotted with bouquets of flowers at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

"The round fragmented and did substantial damage to bones, internal organs, and blood vessels".

Near-perfect Kiwis take control of America's Cup qualifiers
Team NZ will take on the British Ben Ainslie Racing syndicate in this week's Louis Vuitton America's Cup challenger playoffs. The Kiwis have shown they can thrive in light winds so Peter Burling and his team won't mind if the winds remain light.

Since then he has had more than one surgery and doctors expect he will continue to have more in the near future.

"She's in good condition and she's in good spirits", Sava said. When Dr. Sava explained the extent of Scalise's injuries, however, the full nature of what the congressman suffered became apparent.

The hospital said in an update Wednesday night that the House majority whip remains in critical condition.

The congresswoman's wife, Jennifer, issued a statement Friday thankful for "the incredible amount of prayers and warm wishes we have received".

"So we all owe Steve a big, big thank you", the president said. However, the office later released an updated statement referring to MedStar's comments regarding his condition.
