Trump publicly acknowledges Russia probe includes him

HORSLEY: People including the president himself.

After Trump's tweet Friday morning, a person close to the president's legal team told NPR's Scott Horsley that the tweet referred to the Wednesday Washington Post report regarding possible obstruction of justice.

Someone please take away his phone.

"The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by "intelligence" like candy", Mr Trump tweeted in February. No such conclusion has been reached.

Tim Maloney, a Maryland lawyer who has worked with Rosenstein, said he is going to handle the decision of whether to recuse himself in the oversight of the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation "by the book".

Thursday, Trump griped he was receiving unfair treatment from investigators compared with his election opponent, Hillary Clinton. How could any prosecutor fail to pursue this line of inquiry?

Some speculated Brand may have to step in after it was revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

The order from the general counsel for the transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government.

Those very public actions and statements alone cry out for investigation. "I can go around them".

Trump lashes out at 'bad,' 'conflicted' Russian Federation investigators
Additionally, Mueller has hired other key personnel to his team as well, including Andrew Weissmann, chief of the fraud section of the DOJ's Criminal Division.

Comey said the notes contain his recollections that Trump asked for his loyalty when they met for a January dinner and then urged him during a private meeting in the Oval Office two weeks later to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Perhaps it does to Mueller as well.

Reports that Trump allegedly asked two intelligence chiefs to publicly deny any cooperation between his campaign and Russian Federation are also said to be part of the investigation.

The development marks another expansion of the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe, whose scope had previously been limited to uncovering whether Trump's campaign colluded with the Kremlin during the 2016 election.

It's been another big week in the investigation into Russian meddling in the USA elections. We don't know the answer to those questions yet. On Friday morning, ABC News reported that the deputy attorney general has privately told colleagues he may have to recuse himself from Mueller's probe. I don't know whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Mueller's crack team of prosecutors have any solid evidence of collusion or shady financial deals.

Mueller, meanwhile, has sought to beef up his investigatory firepower.

A person familiar with Mueller's inquiry, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Thursday Mueller was looking into whether Trump or others attempted to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation. Democrats might be willing to impeach Trump based on his Comey conversations and nebulous contacts between Russian Federation and Trump world that do not look good on their face, but Republicans aren't.

But it is not.

In another indication of the seriousness of the probe, Michael Cohen, a personal attorney to Trump, said he has retained attorney Stephen Ryan, a former assistant United States attorney, to represent him in the ongoing probes.
