Jimmie Johnson, Lowe's Sign Extension with Hendrick Motorsports

The defending Cup Series champion will go through the 2020 season with Hendrick Motorsports. Now, he will have a few more seasons to check more accomplishments off his to-do list.

Hendrick Motorsports announces that they have signed driver Jimmie Johnson to a three-year contract extension, according to NASCAR.

Hendrick Motorsports also announced that Lowe's will continue as the primary sponsor of the No.48 team through at least 2018. And Knaus has been with Johnson throughout his journey at Hendrick Motorsports. I get it, but I don't have a vision of if it's three (years), if it's five, if it's seven, I don't know.

"I've got another year to try to convince him", Johnson said.

While he is one of the elder statesmen of the NASCAR garage today, Johnson has not slowed down at all.

Johnson won his seventh Cup Series title last season, matching the record held by Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty.

Now, he's ready for at least 3 more years of racing.

JU's Michael Baumann goes to Orioles in third round of Major League Baseball draft
The Baltimore Orioles selected Iowa senior shortstop Mason McCoy in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft on Tuesday afternoon. To no surprise, the Orioles showed interest in Hall's 90-93 miles per hour fastball reaching up to 95 with late arm-side run.

"We have a lot of momentum right now and I think we brought a good vehicle again this weekend, so it would mean a lot to me", Jones said.

Johnson's first inclination was that his auto was damaged severely enough to require a backup, but after he drove the Chevy back to the garage, crew chief Chad Knaus opted to try to fix the primary entry.

Johnson made his Cup debut in October 2001 with Hendrick Motorsports, making all 557 career starts with the same team and crew chief Chad Knaus.

"Jimmie is one of the best to ever drive", Hendrick said.

Two weeks ago at Dover, Johnson's got his 83rd Cup win and tied Cale Yarborough for sixth on the all-time victory list. "We're so fortunate to have him as part of our organization, and I feel even luckier to call him a friend". Certainly, I would love to climb further up the ladder there.

Accordingly, the No. 48 team rolled out the backup, and Johnson will have to start from the rear in Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 (3 p.m. ET on FS1) because of the post-qualifying vehicle change. "Eight championships, I would love to stand alone at that".

Jimmie Johnson isn't going anywhere, and he isn't hanging up his helmet just yet. "It's hard to tell where it's going to go, but my faith is in Rick".
