Father's Day Weekend: hot & humid with occasional summertime storms

Storm Team 27: A hot & humid Father's day weekend

Monday Night.Mostly cloudy skies. That said, we are not expecting a total washout. The high humidity sticks with us as well, at times it will feel close to the mid 90s.

Tuesday: Expect a partly to mostly cloudy, hot and humid day with a 30% chance of showers and storms and afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. The high temperature in the Triangle reached 86 on Saturday and the Sandhills warmed to 88. It will be a warm night Sunday night, with lows only dropping to near 70 degrees. Outdoor plans shouldn't be ruined for Father's Day...but keeping an eye out for some storms will be necessary. We should be into the mid-80s by lunchtime with highs to near 90°. The main threats with this severe weather event is flooding, frequent lightning, strong winds, and possibly some hail.

The weather this afternoon and night will be much like earlier today. Temperatures will push into the mid t upper 80's. Tomorrow afternoon there are slightly lower chances of afternoon storms and showers.

Justin Thomas enjoys record third round at US Open
Miller's mark stood for 44 years, after he shot an 8-under 63 in the final round of the 1973 Open to win by one at Oakmont. "Oh gosh, Jimmy, be good", he said to caddie Jimmy Johnson when the ball was in the air, and it was close to ideal .

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Most models have the system, if it even develops, keeping any moisture well to our southwest and not impacting our area, so that should keep any widespread rain chances away.

Not everyone will see storms during the afternoon, but there will be a higher chance for rain overnight and into Monday. The normal highs for June 21 and 22 are both 81 degrees. It will likely be a comfortable day, too, with dew point temperatures in the 50s.

The chance of showers hangs around for Father's Day, mainly between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the central part of the state.
