Theresa May orders public inquiry into Grenfell Tower blaze 'tragedy'

Prime Minister Theresa May has promised a "proper investigation" after the building went up in flames amid growing concerns about how the blaze could have spread so rapidly.

Londoners were left searching for answers Thursday one day after a deadly high-rise fire - as experts eyed the apartment building's extremely flammable covering as a possible culprit in the fast-moving blaze.

An angry crowd confronted Khan as he visited the high-rise.

The 30-year-old wrote: "Forgive me everyone". The event was scrapped "in light of the tragedy at Grenfell Tower", the Lord Mayor, Andrew Parmley, tweeted.

Questions have been raised about why the fire appeared to spread so quickly and engulf the entire building instead of being contained within a few flats.

"Every single person living in a high-rise building today will be frightened, will be traumatised and will be very, very anxious".

Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Theresa May and other politicians have paid tribute to the firefighters.

She added: "Tragically we are not expecting to find anyone else alive". "We were just standing screaming and they were screaming".

"Right now people want answers and its absolutely right".

Seventeen people have been confirmed dead but the police have warned that this figure is expected to rise. Police were even unsure if they would be able to identify everyone.

In addition to those killed, ambulance crews took 74 people to hospitals after the fire. Thirty-seven were still hospitalized on Thursday, with 17 in critical condition.

"I spoke to a lady that lives on the 21st floor".

Families were also concerned about two young Italian architects who were missing.

The musical's other honours were best orchestration, best book of a musical and best original score. This was Bette's first Tony Award for acting.

But the image projected to the world is a long way from the reality of life around Grenfell Tower and the three other 20-plus-floor blocks nearby.

"The flames are in the living room".

"We need to know what happened", a resolute May said.

"It's great that you're in place", he told them.

But on the streets around the charred carcass of the tower on Thursday there was palpable anger as people accused the local authority of neglecting the safety and wellbeing of the poor in favour of policies favouring the interests of the rich. The building, renovated just past year, was covered in flammable cladding.

WA Building Commissioner Peter Gow said yesterday the wrong type of aluminium composite material cladding had been installed in the Melbourne building and an audit of 11 WA apartment blocks after that fire found only correct fire-resistant materials.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, also visited the site, telling community leaders "the truth has to come out".

"I won't know that until we've gone through the full recovery from Grenfell Tower and we know exactly what we've got and I anticipate that is going to take a considerable period of time".

The explosion of a refrigerator in a fourth-floor apartment at Grenfell Tower in London's North Kensington may have ignited the catastrophic fire, reports The Times of India.

Members of the public have been praised for their "phenomenal" response to the incident, with community centres stating they have been overwhelmed by donations.

London Fire Brigade said it had rescued 65 people trapped in the building and had reached all 24 floors, though a full search has yet to be completed.

Laminated signs bearing the phone number for a missing persons hotline are tied to the fence. "Praying for auntie", one message read.
