Macron's party set for big parliamentary win

Many of the En Marche! candidates have little or no political experience due to Macron's pledge to cleanse France's political establishment.

France's youngest-ever president at 39 coasted to victory in Sunday's first round on the back of a strong debut. Based on results from Sunday's first-round of voting, he is shattering it.

En Marche! and its centrist ally MoDem are on course to win up to 445 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly after next Sunday's second round, according to projections.

The Republicans would become the largest opposition force with 80-100 seats, Elabe projected.

On the other hand, Marine Le Pen's far-right Front National, which came second in the presidential election with 10.6m votes, was projected to win between three and 11 seats - with about 14% of the vote, which the party said was "disappointing". With all first round votes counted, just over 28 percent went to Macron's party.

In the last legislative elections in 2012, turnout in the first round stood at 57 percent.

Forecasts show Le Pen's party will struggle to win the 15 seats it would need to form a parliamentary group and help shape the assembly's agenda.

One of Macron's ministers who is running for re-election in Brittany, Richard Ferrand, is also being probed over a property deal involving his girlfriend.

Socialist leader Jean-Christophe Cambadélis lost his seat in the first round.

Macron's opponents have already warned that they will take the fight to the streets.

House GOP backs bill to undo much of Dodd-Frank
With the bill's passage, the fight for regulatory reform now shifts to the Senate. "We will replace bailout with bankruptcy". According to the House Committee on Financial Services, we lose one community bank or credit union per day.

"Today fewer than half of French people expressed a preference", he said.

Ifop pollster Frederic Dabi said a virtual monopoly on power would up the ante for Macron. "If he's smart he will use the National Assembly and let them moderate the law somewhat". While Macron and Merkel have both demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the European Union and Merkel strongly applauded Macron's election, they are likely to differ over Macron's desire for E.U. -issued bonds, a measure Merkel has strongly opposed in the past.

He said that "millions" of voters "confirmed their attachment to the president's project for renewal, gathering and reconquest".

The spread, the premium investors are willing to pay for German bonds, indicates investor perceptions of France-specific political risk. Now it is set to dominate legislation and win a vast injection of subsidies.

Republicans leader Francois Baroin also cautioned against all the power being "concentrated in one party".

Le Pen, herself in a commanding position to be elected to the national parliament for the first time after winning 46 percent of first round votes, put on a fearless face, urging voters not to abstain next week.

Runner-up in France's presidential election, Le Pen urged "patriotic" voters to turn out en masse in the second round June 18 and boost her party's small presence in the National Assembly.

Francois Fezeau is among those happy with the outcome.

In the latest incident, a 40-year-old self-radicalised Algerian was shot and wounded after he attacked a policeman with a hammer outside Paris's Notre Dame cathedral on Tuesday.

"We had a recent (presidential) election which shook up the classic parties and I think that the legislative elections give Macron the possibility to show what he is able to do".
