'Anxiety and fear' over Tory-DUP deal: Sinn Fein

After chairing a Cabinet meeting followed by her meeting with the DUP leader at Downing Street, May is set to travel to Paris to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

At least six people died and dozens were injured when a massive fire tore through a 24-storey London apartment block overnight, a fresh blow to the capital less than two weeks after the London Bridge terror attack.

The prospect of a deal between the two parties has caused disquiet, with the DUP's anti-abortion and gay rights stance in the crosshairs.

The Brexit discussions are due to begin on Monday when the British minister in charge of the process, David Davis, meets the EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, in Brussels. She reportedly apologised to Tory MPs, accepting personal responsibility for failing to win an outright victory and sacrificing the parliamentary majority she inherited from David Cameron when she became leader after the Brexit referendum previous year. May has said she wants a new customs union deal with the bloc, an idea EU officials have snubbed so far.

The European Parliament's Brexit negotiator, Guy Verhofstadt, also expressed his frustration.

"It's passing quicker than anyone believes".

Talks restarted on Monday in Belfast, under Britain's Northern Ireland Secretary James Brokenshire.

"Although I don't expect it suddenly to collapse, because there's a broad consensus that wishes it to continue, I think we have to take care with it and take care that everything we do does not exaggerate the underlying differences that still are there in the Northern Ireland community".

France's Macron said the EU's door was still open for Britain as long as the negotiations were not finished, but that it would be hard to reverse course.

Theresa May FINALLY says she's SORRY after general election shock
The party is dedicated to an open border with the Republic of Ireland and may demand that be included in Brexit negotiations . Now, the survey has revealed that 26 per cent of Labour voters committed to the party in "the last few days".

The EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, has long argued that the initial talks should center on brokering deals on citizens' rights, money owed by the United Kingdom and the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

"If the Government cannot even secure a deal with the DUP, how on earth can they get a deal with the EU?"

They would not form a coalition.

Major's warning comes amid ongoing political turmoil in Northern Ireland.

One of the architects of the settlement that brought an end to three decades of violence in Northern Ireland, Major said he was concerned that May's reliance on the DUP could create the perception that London was no longer an honest broker.

Ms Foster dismissed suggestions her deal with the Tories threatened the peace process.

An election in March saw the Protestant, pro-British DUP finish narrowly ahead of Catholic socialists Sinn Fein.

Sinn Fein's Michelle Gildernew (Fermanagh and South Tyrone) raised concern about an alliance, saying: "This new arrangement is very unsettling and people are concerned and wary of what it may mean, and what promises will be given or promises extracted from Theresa May".
