Russian Federation says US Syria strike an unacceptable violation of sovereignty

Islamic State attacks Syrian state-held areas, 31 killed

A Syrian government's military source said the United States strike hit "one of our military points" late Thursday, killing several people and causing material damage.

Military Times quotes officials describing the targeted militia as "pro-regime" but "not directly associated with the Syrian government".

The Syrian army on Friday confirmed reports about a us -led airstrike on a Syrian military convoy near the Iraqi borders on Thursday, saying the USA attempt will not terrorize the army from continuing to fight the terrorist groups.

The airstrike is at least the third time that USA forces have fired on forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria's increasingly crowded war zone.

"Whatever the reason for the USA command to make this decision, this strike is illegitimate and unlawful".

According to USA military commanders, the strike was carried out in response to the entry of the regime-allied forces into a "de-escalation zone" in which US and allied forces were operating.

The coalition said the strike had occurred "well inside" an established de-confliction zone north-west of the Al Tanaf garrison, where British and USA commandos have been training and advising local forces fighting ISIL.

A deadly combination of human error, bad intelligence and an increasingly complicated battlefield led to the mistaken bombing of Syrian government troops by American and coalition aircraft in September.

Kenny has been a member of the parliament for west Ireland's County Mayo since 1975, having succeeded his father Henry Kenny. Joe Carey is due to make an announcemnet in the coming days, while Junior Minister Pat Breen is due to declare tomorrow.

The airstrike appears to be the first publicly known direct confrontation between USA forces and fighters loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The US-backed forces in that area are fighting against Islamic State militants.

The US has been militarily involved in Syria since 2014, but has for the most part avoided engaging directly in the conflict.

It quotes another U.S. official as saying that a convoy of 20 pro-regime vehicles were headed toward At Tanf on Wednesday night, searching vehicles and buildings along the way.

Last month, US-led allied forces and Syrian rebels thwarted a significant Daesh attack on the base.

Russian Federation condemned the strike as "illegitimate" and said it could harm efforts to fight Islamic State of Iraq and Syria group (IS) militants. The U.S. military also contacted Russian Federation through a hotline established to facilitate communications and urged it to prevail upon Syria to leave.

"We notified the coalition that we were being attacked by the Syrian army and Iranians in this point and the coalition came and destroyed the advancing convoy", the Pentagon-backed rebel group called the Maghawir al Thwra told Reuters. An earlier chemical weapons attack that killed more than 80 civilians is thought to have been launched from there.
