Trump denies asking Comey to end Flynn investigation

At the center of the political firestorm are Trump's former national security advisor Michael Flynn and his one-time campaign manager Paul Manafort, and their multiple undisclosed contacts with Russian officials during and after the vote.

The press conference is also the president's first public appearance after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller to be special counsel to investigate any ties between Russian Federation and The Trump campaign.

Trump, during the presser, also again hung his justification for firing Comey on a memo from Rosenstein that made a case for the dismissal of the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Trump ripped the appointment of Mueller in a tweet Thursday morning, saying it is "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

"I think we have a very divided country because of that and many other things", he said.

The remarks, delivered during a luncheon with television news anchors, including PBS NewsHour's Judy Woodruff, came the day after Mueller was chosen to take over the investigation, which examines Russia's interference in the 2016 elections as well as possible ties to Trump's campaign.

"No. Next question", Trump stated when asked by a reporter about the allegation.

Sweden Drops Rape Investigation Against Julian Assange
He has been there ever since, fearing that if he is arrested he might ultimately be extradited to the United States . Long added: "Ecuador was clear from the outset that it would fully co-operate with the Swedish justice system".

Trump sent shockwaves across Washington last week by unceremoniously sacking his FBI director - a virtually unprecedented move that came as James Comey was heading an investigation into Team Trump's links to Russian Federation.

In the memo, which ABC News has not seen, Comey wrote that he was asked by the president to let the Flynn probe go in February. "Zero", Trump said, at the joint news conference Thursday afternoon with President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia.

He later reiterated: "There was no collusion, and everybody - even my enemies have said, there is no collusion".

"I'm not sure he addressed that with a level of clarity", Rubio said.

Matthew Miller, who served as the DOJ's Director of the Office of Public Affairs under former Attorney General Eric Holder, suggested that Comey may have been building an obstruction of justice case against the president, in an interview with the Washington Post.

"Lavrov says media have reported that Trump told him that "'terrorists' are capable of stuffing laptops, all kinds of electronic devices, with untraceable explosive materials", information he says the administration revealed with the laptop ban.

The Daily Beast also reports that some of Trump's advisers have assured him that he "absolutely should not" consider giving Flynn another role in the White House. Later, though, Trump told NBC News that he would have fired Comey "regardless" and was thinking of the "Russia thing" when he did so.
