Tom Hardy Will Star in Sony's 'Venom' Movie

2017 Winter TCA Tour- FX Starwalk- Arrivals

Sony is aiming for an R-rating with Venom and considers the film a top priority, hoping to use it as a launching pad for the Spider-Man Universe that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 failed to get off the ground.

Venom was first created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck in 1988, and quickly became one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Comics universe. The movie will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) with a fall 2018 release date.

Plot details on the film are still under wraps, but this is promised to be a part of Sony's Marvel Universe and not a traditional spin-off. In "The Dark Knight Rises", Hardy played Bane, a very well-known Batman villain. In the comics, Bane uses a drug called the venom serum to enhance his strength, making us wonder if they had this planned all along!

UBI posts net profit of Rs 73.56 crore in Q4
Its gross non-performing assets (NPA) ratio improved on a sequential basis to 6.90% in end March, compared to 7.23% in December. Return on assets declined marginally by five basis points to 0.41 per cent as on March 2017, from 0.46 per cent in the year-ago.

Sony has since confirmed via Twitter that Hardy has been secured for the role. While completely unexpected, Tom Hardy has not only the acting ability but also the looks to bring to life a believable and awesome Eddie Brock.

Marvel's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set for release July 7. Venom made his first big-screen appearance in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3", where he was portrayed by Topher Grace. Sony still owns separate film rights to a number of Spidey-related characters, however, and any movie they make is apparently going to be separate from the MCU. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, who has worked on the previous Spider-Man films with Sony, will be producing the Venom film alongside Amy Pascal.

Spider-Man: Homecoming now has a 4.10 out of 5 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, making it the eighth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
