Star Trek: Discovery Releases A First Image

Michelle Yeoh's Captain Philippa Georgiou immediately exhibits a commanding presence, with The Walking Dead alumni Sonequa Martin-Green ready to take command as First Officer Michael Burnham. As a conflict with the Klingons looms on the horizon, Yeoh and Sonequa Martin-Green's characters seem at odds over whether to attack, torn between Starfleet's peaceful, exploration-minded policies and the crew's self-preservation: "Starfleet doesn't fire first". Each new Star Trek show has put its own stamp on the title, and Discovery is no different. Like the fact that for a show set 10 years before Kirk's adventure, this is looking way too modern.

After a long wait, CBS has finally released the first trailer for Star Trek: Discovery.

CBS All Access offers next day streaming for new episodes of many popular shows and a library of over 9,000 on demand episodes, including content from current programs like Elementary and classic series like Cheers. The clip also gives the first glimpse of a Vulcan, some cool-looking Klingons and some new alien species. It'll be interesting to see how the shift in focus to a scientific vessel, and to a time period a bit before the original series, will be used, and we'll find out just how later this fall.

Wenger's future at Arsenal will be decided after FA Cup final
Asked if the match against Everton would be his last home game as Arsenal manager, Wenger said: "I can not tell you that". Should Arsenal finish outside the top four the "Thanks Arsene but Time to Go" brigade will be in full cry.

Hannibal and American Gods showrunner Bryan Fuller was spearheading this new series, but left previous year. Perhaps unsurprising given that the combined financial might of Netflix, CBS and Bell Media have produced the new show. Also featuring The Office's Rainn Wilson, Orphan Black's James Frain and Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs, Star Trek: Discovery will air in the United States on CBS "this fall". While CBS has an ACTUAL Star Trek series-the first since Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005-which they're not confident enough in to put on TV.

It's certainly a noticeable shift from the promotional material for the recent action-orientated Star Trek movies; being a much more sombre affair which hopes to evoke the originals explorer spirit. A companion aftershow, Talking Trek, will stream on CBS All Access.
