'ShadowBrokers' threatens to release more cyber attack tools

Microsoft Corp. president Brad Smith sharply criticized the US government on Sunday for “stockpiling” software flaws that it often cannot protect citing recent leaks of both NSA and CIA hacking tools

Marcy Wheeler, a longtime independent researcher, said in a blog post of her own Tuesday that the Shadow Brokers' post "brings the hammer" down both on Microsoft, whose products could be affected by any further leaks, and the National Security Agency, whose information the Shadow Brokers leaked in April.

The hacker group claims that it still has 75 percent of the the US' cyber arsenal, and could release tools that exploit browser, router and phone vulnerabilities, as well as compromised network data from Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

In a blog post, the Shadow Brokers blamed the USA government and technology companies for the global ransomware attack on Friday, saying that... As the group wrote: "Each month peoples can be paying membership fee, then getting members only data dump each month".

The Shadow Brokers found few bidders for their stolen wares.

While the hackers behind the actual WannaCry attacks have not been identified, we do know that the malware itself was obtained from the Shadow Brokers, who stole it from the NSA.

Now the shadowy group has announced that they plan to sell more exploits to anyone willing to pay, on a monthly basis, starting next month in June.

Supreme Court reserves verdict over Triple Talaq
He subsequently moved the court to get the talaq declared valid, but the court dismissed the declaration suit on May 12. But when it is triple talaq, the government raises the question of constitutional morality.

The leaks, and the global WannaCry virus attack, have renewed debate over how and when intelligence agencies should disclose vulnerabilities used in cyber spying programs to so that businesses and consumers can better defend themselves against attacks.

The rogue hackers have promised more details on their content-monetization strategy in June.

The ransomware Attack was because of the existing Windows XP systems throughout the world which had been announced unsupported by Microsoft after 2014.

The Shadow Brokers said it made a decision to share screenshots from the NSA Equation Group's lost 2013 Windows Ops Disk in January, with the understanding that the Equation Group would then tell Microsoft and the vulnerability would be patched. "But I can not defend an agency having powerful tools if it can not protect the tools and keep them in its own hands", he said.

The blog post is extremely crude and unclear. But analysts believe the files are genuine and came from the NSA's hyper-secret hacking unit dubbed the "Equation Group".

"TheShadowBrokers is launching new monthly subscription model", it explained. However, given the group's track record of leaking legitimate information that many believe to be sourced from the NSA, it is likely that at some point, this data will become public, one way or another. "Microsoft has been critical of the U.S. government over this stockpiling of vulnerability code, and said this was equivalent to the government losing it stock of 'Tomahawk missiles".
