Sanchez, Giroud send Arsenal up to fifth

Arsenal must avoid complacency and carry the intensity they showed in Wednesday's win over Southampton into their three remaining games to achieve a top four finish in the Premier League, manager Arsene Wenger has said.

The Gunners are aiming to finish in the top-four for the 21st consecutive season under boss Arsene Wenger, as they are now just three points off fourth-place Manchester City, while they have a game in hand on Liverpool in third.

"We are aware of the fact that we probably need to win all of our remaining games to be sure that we will be in the race until the last minute".

Arsenal went into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Manchester United and procured the first sight of goal, with Aaron Ramsey firing wide after a foray by Oxlade-Chamberlain. I think we managed in the second half to keep playing our game and waiting and being patient until the opportunity comes.

Arsenal travel to Stoke on Saturday, hoping to put pressure on Liverpool who play the following day, before ending their season at home to already-relegated Sunderland and Everton.

The Chilean global became the first Arsenal player to score 20 EPL goals in one season since Robin van Persië posted 30 goals in 2011-12.

Sanchez was anonymous in the first half and was guilty of passing straight to Saints players to kill two chances shortly after the interval, but the Chilean's next involvement was breathtaking. And if results go with us and we win our last two games, we could be eighth.

"For me, we deserved minimum a draw and maybe a win".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that teams battling in Europe and domestically will find it hard to win the coveted English Premier League (EPL) title. For them, in one situation, they scored.

The Gunners weren't particularly impressive in attack themselves and with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain going down clutching his hamstring in the 34th minute, the away fans feared the worst.

That was until the Arsenal three-man defence conspired to play both Dusan Tadic and Gabbiadini onside, with the latter seeing an effort well saved by Petr Cech.

Picked out by Mesut Ozil, he cut inside Saints centre-backs Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens, leaving both on the deck, before finishing crisply.

The second came in the closing stages as sub Giroud made certain of the points when heading home.
