Rescued Chibok girl not one of 219 abducted schoolgirls - FG

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo announced the escape of the young woman, who was kidnapped by Boko Haram more than three years ago together with 276 others, during a federal executive council meeting in the capital, Abuja.

Nigeria's leading prelate welcomed the release of 82 girls abducted from their school in Chibok, Nigeria, in 2014.

Adesina also said Nigerian military forces were capable of defeating Boko Haram, a terrorist group involved in an eight-year campaign for an Islamist caliphate in Nigeria that has cost thousands of lives and displaced millions.

In addition, during a highly publicized visit last Christmas by the girls to Chibok, the girls were not allowed to go to church with their parents or to stay over at their family homes, remaining instead at a politician's house.

"The gunmen attacked the farmers with machetes as they were clearing their farms that have been taken over by weed in preparation for the rains which start in few days", said Ibrahim Liman, a civilian militia member.

Yana Galang is one of the parent leaders who met with the released girls in Abuja earlier this month, tasked with carrying their photos back to Chibok.

The Stream also discussed the dangers of isolation; what rehabilitation means in this situation; and whether the "Chibok girls" have become too famous to ever truly be free. "If I tell her now, the trauma will be too much".

Eleven farmers have been killed in Amarwa village in Konduga LGA, after Boko Haram insurgents reportedly stormed the village in search of food. "Because of Margaret and Asabe, that is why she developed sickness", he said.

This follows the original October release of 21 of the Chibok girls.

About 2,000 girls and boys have been abducted by Boko Haram since 2014, with many used as sex slaves, fighters and even suicide bombers, according to Amnesty International.

"One of the girls refused to join the released girls", Shehu told the Associated Press.
