McDonald's expands delivery partnership with UberEats

McDonald's now offers delivery from about 270 restaurants in Chicago. | File

We're not there quite yet, but it seems as though McDonald's delivery in the United Kingdom could soon be a thing. UberEats' delivery charge is $5, more than almost all of the chain's menu items. The meals on wheels are already available at about 300 restaurants in Los Angeles, 144 in Phoenix and 59 in Columbus, Ohio. Among the selections include Tito's, Don Julio, Stella Artois and Dom Perignon. But by partnering with Uber - which already has logistics networks built up in small, medium, and large-sized cities - McDonald's is able to bring delivery to markets like Florida and OH that typically don't have a lot of food-delivery options beyond your standard pizza or Chinese food order.

Fred Prouser/ReutersMcDonald's is jumping on the fast-food-delivery bandwagon.

UberEats is set to deliver more from the Golden Arches. "We're getting great reviews (of the food)".

Brewers fall to Padres in extra innings
Counsell said the big first inning "does a lot for your starting pitcher as much as anything, that he's got some breathing room". The Padres had the potential winning run at third with less than two outs in the sixth, seventh and ninth and failed to score.

Much of McDonald's delivery is in Asia and the Middle East, where the company said some restaurants generate as much as 40 percent of sales from delivery.

Still, McDonald's reckons that some people would actually consume its offerings more often if it were a little more convenient to do so. Perhaps, with McDelivery, McDonald's can win back the customers who are too lazy to actually visit the chain. McDonald's said the other keys to improving traffic also involve technology: The chain is rolling out mobile ordering by the end of the year, and renovating its restaurants to add ordering kiosks and table service. Keep an eye on hos this trial run goes in these four cities, though, because it's not hard to imagine McDonald's and UberEATS moving quickly to expand the service if it proves popular.
