Slain DNC Staffer Had Contact With WikiLeaks, Say Multiple Sources

There is tangible evidence on the laptop of Seth Rich that confirms he was talking to Wiki Leaks prior to his murder a private investigator suggested Monday

The family of former Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich denied reports that the 27-year-old had contact with WikiLeaks prior to his death in July.

An anonymous "federal investigator" told Fox News that he had "seen and read the emails between Rich and WikiLeaks" and that Rich made contact with WikiLeaks through investigative reporter Gavin MacFadyen, who died of lung cancer in October of a year ago.

The Rich family hired the detective who had been recommended, Rod Wheeler, a former D.C. homicide detective who is also a Fox News contributor and who last month tweeted a photo of himself at the White House captioned, "Doing my part to Make America Great Again!"

Now a private investigator says he has discovered evidence on Rich's laptop that indicates the staffer was in contact with WikiLeaks. According to the anonymous source, Rich transferred 44,053 emails sent between DNC officials to Gavin MacFadyen, a now deceased filmmaker and WikiLeaks director.

Police told WTTG-TV, a Fox affiliate in D.C., that Wheeler's assertion that police were instructed to stand down was false.

Many speculated at the time that Rich may have been involved in leaking the DNC e-mails to WikiLeaks and may have been on his way to the Federal Bureau of Investigation office to blow an even bigger whistle when he was killed. "That is unfortunate. Seth Rich's murder is unsolved as a result of that". Two days after Rich was killed, a "staunch supporter of Senator Sanders" on Reddit combed through Rich's LinkedIn profile to build an elaborate 1,400-word case claiming Rich may have been on the verge of exposing election fraud perpetrated by the Clintons.

However, the family of Seth Rich issued a statement Tuesday to distance themselves from his claims, saying he was unauthorized to speak to the media about the matter.

Populist Le Pen now goes for role as top French opposition
Philippe, a lawyer with experience working in the private sector, was born in Rouen and grew up a Left-wing environment. Shortly after Mr Philippe's appointment, Mr Macron travelled to Berlin on his first foreign trip as French leader.

Rich's family in the statement also said the services of the private investigator were offered to them and "paid for by a third party".

Wikileaks Founder Jullian Assange has offered a $20,000 reward for information about Rich's death. He went on to suggest a cover-up may be obscuring the truth about who killed Rich. Police have said they don't believe there was a connection between Rich's work for the DNC and his murder, and their investigation focused on connections between Rich's shooting and other robberies that took place around that time in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of DC. MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information on this case that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

This is not the first time the Rich family has been blindsided by conspiracy theories.

"I have seen and read the emails between Seth Rich and Wikileaks", which are in the possession of the FBI, the investigator said.

Perhaps even more shocking was Wheeler's answer when asked about the Washington D.C Police Department's investigation into the case. Sean Hannity featured a segment about the Fox 5 report during his Monday show, and Laura Ingraham on Tuesday begged for follow-up reporting into the supposed links between Rich and WikiLeaks.

Only later did the story include a statement from the Rich family disavowing several elements of the story, which DCist also received.
