Nurses with dementia should be allowed to continue working

Nurses back plan to ballot for strikes over pay

The RCN has warned the government that it will launch a formal ballot on strike action this year unless the 1% pay cap is lifted.

'The RCN has never gone on strike before, so balloting our members would be a very significant step'.

However, the numbers are still 1,000 down on the high of just over 10,000 seen in 2015.

Janet Davies, general secretary of the RCN, said: "What's happened today is unprecedented for the RCN and is a reflection of the deep anger members feel".

Jon Skewes, director of policy at the Royal College of Midwives, said: "NHS staff have now seen seven years of pay restraint and with at least another three years on the horizon".

Asked by an RCN delegate why people should believe the Lib Dems after the party broke its pledge on tuition fees, Mr Farron, who rebelled on the issue, said: "The problem is that if you are living in a society, and we are, where people assume that politicians are scumbags who don't tell the truth, don't confirm the suspicion".

"There is no certainty about the next generation of United Kingdom nurses joining either - deterred by low pay, pressure and new training costs - so the Government desperately needs to keep the experienced ones we have", she will say.

Commenting on NHS nurses pay last month, a Conservative party spokesman said: "Investment in our NHS, in additional staff and indeed in their overall pay is founded on the strong economy only Theresa May and the Conservatives can provide".

Atlanta Braves: Offense Comes Alive in Toronto
But it takes a little while and he took his lumps along the way and he's determined this year not to be that up-and-down guy. So the 43-year-old made a decision to change some things for his start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.

Nurses working in the NHS could strike for the first time in 100 years in a row over pay.

"The current conditions in the NHS are driving people out of the profession and putting new people off entering it".

"The next Government must tell us what they're going to do about nursing pay to stop the nurse staffing crisis".

Unions were extremely critical when the pay cap was initially introduced, arguing that four more years of salary restraints would "hasten the reluctant exit of many dedicated staff from hospitals".

"The NHS is reliant on midwives', maternity support workers' and all other NHS staffs' goodwill and we want the Government to recognise that".

"Ensuring pay is affordable helps protect jobs - there are an extra 12,100 nurses on our wards since 2010 - which means frontline NHS services are protected at a time of rising demand".

Their fury over pay comes after reports of nurses having to use food banks.

"In fact, nurses in our health service have faced on average a real terms cut of £3,400 as a result of Nicola Sturgeon's pay cap".
