Toyota latest to dabble with flying auto concept

Flying cars are the latest hot thing. This Aeromobil a flying supercar was displayed at an exclusive luxury goods expo in Monaco in April 2017

Toyota will give £274,000 to Cartivator as it hopes to see its "Skydrive" project come to fruition.

Toyota has been wary of backing the flying auto project, the report said.

The so-called "Skydrive" cars have been masterminded by crowdfunded group Cartivator, based in Japan.

The company is giving about 42.5 million yen ($375,000) to the Cartivator project, which is developing the three-wheeled sci-fi vehicle that relies on drone technology to take flight. Of course, specific details on how the vehicle alternates between the modes and its effective range are still unanswered as development is still in progress.

Anaheim Ducks: Corey Perry Needs to be Better in Game 3
Andrew Ference, former Edmonton Oiler and Polar Park Brewing co-owner, took exception to the City of Anaheim's confidence. McDavid, on the other hand, has only one point through two games, but he's not anxious about his individual performances.

The manned vehicle, dubbed SkyDrive, will have four sets of propellors and - at 2.9 metres (9.5 foot) long and 1.3 metres wide - is aiming to be the world's smallest flying auto, according to the project. SkyDrive uses drone technology to engage flight and has three wheels for land travel.

But for Cartivator, which has relied on donations and online crowdfunding, it's a huge help towards financing the prototype which they're claiming will be the smallest flying auto developed yet. It has room for just one person, and can fly 10 meters (33 feet) above the ground at speeds up to 100 kph (62 mph).

The team of 30 volunteers developing the Skydrive auto hopes its prototype could be used to light the Olympic flame when Tokyo hosts the summer games in 2020.
