North Korea reports on South's presidential election

South Korea’s new President Moon Jae-in waves from a car after his inauguration ceremony outside of the National Assembly in Seoul South Korea Wednesday. Moon said Wednesday he was open to visiting rival North Korea under the right conditions to talk

The election of South Korea's new president, Moon Jae-in, has given fresh hope of a thawing in relations with China, which have recently been strained due to the deployment of a controversial missile defense system in South Korea.

Chinese president Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Wednesday to Moon Jae-in, the newly elected president of South Korea.

South Korea's first liberal leader in a decade, Moon also said he'll "sincerely negotiate" with the United States, Seoul's top ally, and China, South Korea's top trading partner, over the contentious deployment of an advanced US missile-defense system in southern South Korea.

According to Zhao, China's understanding on how to deal with North Korea is very much in line with the new South Korean president.

A liberal leader in South Korea seeks warmer ties with North Korea, clashing with the Republican in the White House intent on snuffing out the North's nuclear weapons program.

On Tuesday, Beijing confirmed that an official delegation from North Korea would also attend the summit.

North Korea has unveiled what it claims are satellite images of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system which was deployed by the USA military in South Korea, Seoul officials said on Thursday. Moon also said he would review the THAAD deployment. Now more than ever is the time for Seoul to devote itself to balanced diplomacy with the position that it should take the initiative in resolving problems on the Korean Peninsula.

Microsoft re-releases security update after cyberattacks
Tom Bossert, a homeland security adviser to President Donald Trump, said "criminals" were responsible, not the USA government. The western MI resident said he noticed the authors of the malware had left in a feature known as a kill switch .

However, the broadcast did not elaborate on when or how the photos were taken, the officials said.

Earlier this month, South Korean officials said the THAAD system was already operating, and experts say it will be extremely hard now for Moon to ask Washington to withdraw it.

The TV programme also accused the U.S. of speeding up the deployment before the conservative government in South Korea handed over power. Experts see it as a sign that China is reaching out to South Korea amid friction over the missile system deployment.

South Korean experts say Moon will try to show he's making efforts to soothe Chinese anger but that it's too late to call for THAAD's withdrawal.

For his part, Moon said South Korea attaches great importance to its relations with China, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to develop bilateral ties and push forward their strategic cooperative partnership.

After the obligatory congratulations, Japan is cautiously watching to see how relations with South Korea evolve under Moon, known for his tough stance on wartime history and territorial issues. Moon has called for a renegotiation of the pact.

Suga refused to confirm whether Moon told Abe that south Korea's public has difficulty accepting a 2015 agreement and Japan's compensation over the wartime sexual abuse of South Korean "comfort women" by the Japanese military.
