Upper Merion named a 2016 Tree City USA by Arbor Day Foundation

The Arbor Day Foundation commends campuses committed to engaging staff and students in conservation goals. There are four core standards of sound urban forestry management that must be met for eligibility: maintaining a tree board, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.

After the city is recognized for its efforts as a Tree City, USA, several of the students will assist with the planting of two Skyline Locust trees, a cotton-less Cottonwood and an Autumn Blaze Maple.

Three flowering crabapple trees will be planted and a forester from the Colorado State Forest Service will present the Tree Campus USA award.

UC Berkeley flip-flops on Ann Coulter, proposes May date
But Coulter remained defiant and proclaimed over social media that she still intends to show up for the original timeslot. She said she had already spent money to hold the event on the original April 27 date and is not available May 2.

UNC will celebrate Arbor Day and its designation by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus USA for the fifth consecutive year with a tree planting and ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday, April 21, at the permaculture garden on the south side of Ross Hall. The fourth-graders will get lessons on bees, tree care, recycling, birds, weather, insects and more.

The Town of Lancaster Forestry Department will be hosting an Arbor Day celebration from 10 a.m.to noon Saturday, April 29, at Westwood Park.

"Arbor Day is that one day every year reminding us to think about all that trees do for us - a day for reflection and for action", Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation, said in a release.

After giving out trees to guests of the Earth Day celebration on ISU's campus on Wednesday, Tree Campus USA has helped reduce carbon dioxide and promote the importance of trees to Earth.
