New York City firefighter falls several stories, dies

William Tolley a 14-year veteran of the FDNY died in the line of duty during a fire in Queens

It was too early to say what caused the firefighter to fall about 20 minutes into the firefight. That was his position as the outside ventilation firefighter, operating around the area where Ladder 135's bucket was located, ' Nigro said. The firefighter was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, in critical condition.

And more than 50 fellow smoke eaters lined up outside Bellevue Hospital on Friday to see Tolley's casket - draped in an American flag - loaded into an ambulance before it was transported to a Long Island funeral home.

The last firefighter killed in the line of duty was Deputy Chief Michael Fahy, who died in an explosion at a marijuana grow house in the Bronx on September 27, 2016.

It was not considered suspicious.

Currently, the death toll of FDNY firefighters killed in the line of duty stands at 1,147, according to FDNY Commissioner Nigro.

Joseph Kunkel, a chaplain with the New York State Chaplain Task Force, was at Tolley's station Thursday night waiting for the firefighters to come back from the hospital.

He returns as Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, which is released in United Kingdom cinemas on April 28. With every challenge, with every day, week, month, decade, we become more bonded. "You're very caring.

'He was already up there on top of the roof in the bucket. "There was like two or three firemen already on the roof, and then it shakes, and he fell out".

'The fire was on the second floor. "It was really in the operation that he was performing on the roof, which is a routine operation for us, and somehow he fell from the roof".

In addition to playing in the band, Tolley was a member of the New York City Fire Department and the local CBS affiliate reports that he fell from the roof of a multi-family home while fighting a fire. A statement from the Uniformed Firefighter's Association president said: "His death is a grim reminder of the risky work New York City firefighters do on behalf of our city every single day and FF Tolley's sacrifice today will never be forgotten". "It just makes me sad", he said.

"I don't know anybody who would step down from a tower ladder", he said. "I just saw when the body came over. I think he was in shock too because he didn't even scream when he was falling". "It didn't feel real".

Firefighters were actively trying to get the blaze under control when, witnesses say, they saw a man fall onto the pavement. "He was a great neighbor an outstanding firefighter and I feel bad for his wife and daughter".

At approximately 6 p.m., Fire Marshals were investigating at the scene where the ladder appeared to still be in place from the time of the accident.
