Man held for fake hijack alert in Hyderabad

A man with some extra baggage sent in a tip to authorities about a fake plot to hijack an airplane because he couldn't afford to buy his online girlfriend a ticket for the flight.

The email said the woman, who claimed that she couldn't provide details of her identity, overheard the conversation while having lunch at a hotel. A few days ago, the woman asked Krishna to take her on a holiday to Mumbai and Goa.

So naturally, he created a fake plane ticket for his girlfriend from Chennai to Mumbai, and then also created a fake email address to send the hoax email to the cops.

On April 16, the security at global airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai was put on maximum alert after the police forces of Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and the CISF were informed about a possible aircraft hijack attempt.

M Vamshi Krishna, who hails from Miyapur, was arrested from his house on Thursday morning.

"The e-mail could eventually turn out be a hoax but till investigations conclude all security drills to thwart a hijack like scenario are being carried out at the three airports", he had said.

Grant, director of equity trading at KBW, who said solid earnings reports also supported stocks during the session Thursday. He would not provide details of the plan, saying only that the tax cuts will be "bigger I believe than any tax cut ever".

Investigators traced the IP address to an internet cafe called E Netzone in Hyderabad and were able to narrow down the email to eight people. In the mail, he had written that a lady had overheard six boys talking about a simultaneous hijack plan in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.

According to DCP Task Force, B Limba Reddy, Vamshi Krishna, who is married, has a woman as his friend in Chennai and they are in touch with each other through social media.

But Vamshi did not have enough money to plan the trip for her and hence, he created a fake flight ticket from Chennai to Mumbai in her name and emailed it to her.

Police booked Vamshi Krishna for cheating, impersonation, giving false information and under relevant sections of Information Technology Act.

Police today arrested a person from here for allegedly sending a hoax e-mail to Mumbai police about a possible aircraft hijack attempt. Vamshi Krishna said that he had met the girl on Facebook.
