Madison Bumgarner lands on DL after dirt bike accident

Left-handed ace Madison Bumgarner will be placed on the disabled list with a Grade 1 or 2 strain of the AC joint in his left shoulder, according to The San Francisco Chronicle. Tinkering with drones is one, especially during the postseason (yes, I'm talking to you, Trevor Bauer), and riding dirt bikes is another. The Giants said Bumgarner is out of the hospital and resting at the team hotel. Bumgarner will miss roughly a third of the season, and to a team that now is 6-10 and has struggled to score runs, this is a tough blow.

The timetable for his return is uncertain, although Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported that the expectation is Bumgarner will miss six to eight weeks. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Sarin used in deadly Syria attack, chemical weapons watchdog confirms
Thus, the criticism that Assad continues to launch air strikes, from the base we hit or from elsewhere, misses the point. Iran and Hezbollah, both bitter enemies of Israel, along with Russian Federation have sent forces to support Assad.

It's not the kind of start that Bumgarner needs to help guide the Giants back to the top of the NL West, and this injury to his throwing arm will not help things at all. In his first six full Major League Baseball season, the lefty has made at least 31 starts and exceeded the 200 innings threshold each year, although that looks unlikely to continue.

Bumgarner is 0-3 this season with 3.00 earned-run-average with 28 strikeouts and four walks in 27 innings this season.
