Russell's walk-off was the second of his career, with today's game victor coming a day after Chicago rallied from 5-0 and 7-4 down to win 9-7. Addison Russell delivered that hit - and then some.

Russell's second home run of the season helped Chicago take two of three from Milwaukee after dropping the series opener Monday. Russell's homer came on Feliz's 33rd pitch of the game, which is the most pitches he'd thrown in a game in almost a year, since April 24, 2016.

Milwaukee added pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning on Braun's RBI double and steal of third base followed by catcher Willson Contreras' throwing error.

It was Russell's first career walk-off home run as he took Feliz deep for 370 feet with two runners on base.

"Sometimes you just need an at bat like that to get going", Russell said of his eighth-inning single.

Addison Russell smashed a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off of Brewers closer Neftali Feliz to give the Cubs a 7-4 win.

Vargas (3-0) struck out nine, one shy of his career high, walked none and allowed four hits in seven innings.

The Cubs were on the brink of falling below.500 again at 7-8, as they trailed 4-1 in this game. Travis Shaw was 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs.

Justin Grimm worked a flawless sixth inning for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night and was rewarded for the performance with his first victory of the 2017 season.

It all started three and a half hours before Russell's blast, and that after a rain delay that ran 55 minutes. The victory was the Brewers' sixth in the last seven games.

His heroics capped a four-run ninth that came on the heels of a single run in the eighth as the Cubs rallied from a 4-2 deficit.

"Coming right out of the gate, I had full control of everything", said Velasquez, who was tagged for five hits and five runs in five innings against the Mets in his previous start. The victory was the Rockies' fourth in five games on a road trip that began in San Francisco and ends Wednesday.

Our local nine returns to Miller Park tomorrow to begin a four game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, who now reside in the NL Central cellar at 6-9.

Hendricks worked five innings before being lifted for pinch-hitter Ben Zobrist.

Cubs reliever Wade Davis (2-0) pitched one inning to get the win. Jonathan Villar went 1 for 5 with an RBI of his own, while Hernan Perez and Orlando Arcia combined for 3 hits between the two.
