Barack Obama Plans First Public Appearance Since Leaving Office

About six high school, college, and university graduate students from the Chicago area will join him on stage.

The former president's namesake legacy, the Obama Foundation, released its vision in February, touching upon the importance of the next generation of leaders.

The event was scheduled to be held at the University's Logan Center for the Arts and was not going to be political, according to reports.

Obama's announcement that he'll be speaking next week in Chicago follows his close friend and aide Valerie Jarrett's declaration on Morning Joe that he's looking recruit and train the "Barack Obama 2.0s" to run for office.

Aside from some calls and statements and a handful of tweets, Obama's stayed out of the way as Trump set fire to his signature achievements.

Select Comfort more than doubles first-quarter earnings per share
The current share price indicates that stock is -8.72% away from its one year high and is moving 44.12% ahead of its 52-week low. Following the completion of the transaction, the director now directly owns 40,742 shares in the company, valued at $917,102.42.

The event comes as part of his post-presidency efforts to encourage and support the next generation of leaders by strengthening communities, officials said. Local organizations that work with minority residents were also given tickets.

The former POTUS has been island hopping since leaving office on January 20, jetting from Palm Springs, Calif., to a Caribbean island with English billionaire Richard Branson, to an exclusive resort in French Polynesia. But he made no appearances for the general public. Additionally, when Obama is due to meet with Chancellor Merkel, President Trump will be in Belgium attending a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit. Since then, he has spent most of his time vacationing and focusing on writing his memoirs. "During his tenure as president, he had town halls at universities, sit-downs with young people at the White House, and even countries around the world".

Now, the timing of the Chicago event suggests an increasing public profile for the former leader.

Obama is also slated to appear with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin in late May and is due to accept an award in Boston prior to that.
