Only Steve Knows: Police Baffled by Facebook Video Killing

As the vehicle was spinning from the impact, Stephens pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, officers received a tip around 11 a.m. when Steve Stephens' vehicle was spotted at a McDonald's in Erie.

Stephens also claimed he had killed more people, but Cleveland Police say they have no known additional victims linked to him. The videos once again raised the question of Facebook's role in how it deals with grisly murders, rapes and other inappropriate content.

As officers approached his auto, Stephens shot himself, Pennsylvania state police said on Tuesday on Twitter and at a news conference.

Lane said she and Stephens dated for a while, and had discussed getting engaged, but they broke up and she urged him to seek help for gambling issues.

The woman believed to be associated has said she is "overwhelmed" by the tragedy. The social media site later confirmed the video was "recorded and then uploaded to Facebook".

Steve Stephens allegedly shot and killed seventy-four year-old Robert Godwin in Cleveland, Ohio, on Easter Sunday, before uploading a video of the murder on Facebook and going on the run from police. "We were just trying to make sure she could get in contact with state police", restaurant owner Tom Ducharme said.

DuCharme said a supervisor went to the window and tried to stall Stephens by telling him that his order of fries would need more time to cook.

In the video, Stephens told Mr Godwin the name of his girlfriend and said: "She's the reason that this is about to happen to you".

Authorities on Monday offered a reward of $50,000 for his capture.

"We have a lot of work, and we will keep doing all we can to prevent tragedies like this from happening", Zuckerberg said on stage at F8, Facebook's annual developers conference. "Period", Cleveland's police chief said. "I'm angry with him, yes, but I forgive him", Godwin-Baines told Lane.
