Stop anti-Kashmiri violence: Rajnath Singh to CMs

But... what does Kashmir want?

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has condemned the attack on a group of Kashmiri students at Rajasthan's Mewar University and appealed to all state governments to ensure safety of Kashmiris.

Singh told ANI, "Last evening I got to know that some Kashmiri youth have been mistreated".

He said a proper inquiry should be initiated in each case to ensure strongest action against those who indulged in harassing Kashmiri students staying outside Jammu and Kashmir.

"I appeal to all states to ensure the safety of all Kashmiris anywhere in the country".

The group of Kashmiri students were allegedly beaten up by the locals as they were upset over soldiers being targeted by stone pelters in the strife-torn border state.

Fuel outlets to remain shut on Sundays from May 14
He added that petrol pumps in the seven states and Puducherry will work from May 15 only on single shift - 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. Murali said there were around 4,850 outlets selling petrol and diesel in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry alone.

In one or two parts of India, people misbehaved with Kashmiri youth said the Home Minister. His reaction came in the backdrop of widespread hostility against people from the Valley who are living in different states in the country. Upon learning that the students were from Kashmir, they started beating them up. If such incidents happen, action should be taken. "I appeal to everyone to consider the Kashmiri youths as their own brethren and treat them well".

The Home Secretary has been advised to issue an advisory in this regard, Singh said.

Uttar Pradesh Nav Nirman Sena is a fringe right-wing outfit that put up billboards in Meerut asking Kashmiris to leave the state.

On Wednesday, a group of students from Kashmir studying at the Mewar University of Chittorgarh was attacked by locals while they were shopping at a market.
