Sharks even series with 7-0 win over Oilers in Game 4

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night in San Jose. As good as Connor McDavid is, and my word is he good, the Oilers will need secondary scoring to keep opponents honest. Edmonton Oilers goalie Cam Talbot (33) lays out to stop a shot next to San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl, top, and Oilers' Mark Letestu (55) during the second period in Game 3 of a first-round NHL hockey playoff series.

The fourth power play goal and final tally of the game would come courtesy of Sharks defenseman David Schlemko midway through the third.

"We were bad tonight, obviously", McDavid said.

The game took an ugly turn at 13:44 when Oilers centre Leon Draisaitl was given a major penalty and game misconduct for spearing San Jose forward Chris Tierney in the groin.

After enduring multiple long stretches without recording a shot on goal in games two and three the Sharks clearly game planned to avoid repeating this particular mistake.

The goals came early and often and not one counted for the Oilers leaving fans venting a humiliating 7-0 loss on social media.

San Jose produced four goals in the second period to eliminate any suspense in the outcome. The pivotal Game 5 is Thursday in Edmonton, and the series is guaranteed to return to the South Bay for Game 6 on Saturday.

"This is an intimidating building to play in, and it is even more when you've got a lead early", Couture said. Game 4 is Tuesday night in San Jose.

"They're both quality goaltenders, they're at the top of their game right now and that's a big part of it", McLellan said.

USS Carl Vinson Deployment Near North Korea Extended
The U.S.is trying to ratchet up pressure on North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. Pacific Command (PACOM) "put out a release talking about the group ultimately ending up in the Korean Peninsula".

Talbot departed at that point, but Pavelski's power play goal at 16:46 on Laurent Broissoit - on another patented deflection by the captain - upped the lead to 6-0 at the second intermission.

Oilers coach Todd McLellan said he hoped his players learn some lessons from the shellacking.

The rediscovery of the power play was a big change for the Sharks, who had gone 2-of-15 with the man advantage in the series.

DeBoer said: "They've tried to play physical and they've taken some liberties, and we haven't made them pay a price for that until tonight".

"It's already forgotten in my mind", Talbot said.

After preaching about taking too many penalties in Games 1 and 2, the Oilers were back at it again, this time fuelled by frustration, and allowed a Sharks power play that had scored once in the first 15 tries to score on four of seven. This eventually led to Marcus Sorensen netting his first career playoff goal as he picked up a Brendan Dillon rebound and sent it home.

"The message to start the season was get better as the season goes on", right wingrt Jordan Eberle told the Edmonton Sun. He almost created two goals on one shift, but no teammate was able to get to his wraparound attempt and then Jones stopped him on a one-timer.

Kassian walked out and backhanded his second goal of the series under the Jones' pads at 10:45 on the Oilers' 21st shot of the game. Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture each scored twice, and Brent Burns had 3 assists as the Sharks hammered the Oilers 7-0.

Zack Kassian is first @EdmontonOilers player to score a GWG in consecutive playoff games since Fernando Pisani (2006 F vs. CAR).
