Rajnath's appeal comes a day after six Kashmiri students studying in Rajasthan's Mewar University were injured following a scuffle with locals at a market in Chittorgarh district.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday asked all states to ensure safety of Kashmiris living in different parts of the country. "I appeal to all chief ministers to ensure the security of Kashmiris", Rajnath told reporters the national capital.

The incident took place around 5 pm on Wednesday when 11 students, all living in the varsity hostel, had stepped out of the campus. "Kashmiris leave UP or." read a hoarding. "Boycott those Kashmiris who pelt stones atthe Indian Army".
