Karen Handel beats Jon Ossoff in Georgia district's values

Ossoff is up against Republican Karen Handel in the 6th Congressional District runoff on June 20.

Ossoff, she continued, "Would be another vote for Nancy Pelosi and going to Washington and saying I won't do anything. Jon Ossoff's special election is the FIRST competitive congressional race of the Trump era".

"I think it should be noted that the two candidates who were most vocal about their support of Trump and their eagerness to get to Congress to support his agenda without asking any questions were Bruce Levell and Bob Gray, and neither one of those candidates are going to be in the runoff", Chip Lake, a Georgia Republican strategist, said in an interview.

"Despite major outside money, FAKE media support and eleven Republican candidates, BIG "R" win with runoff in Georgia", the President tweeted late on Tuesday.

With Ossoff unable to secure an outright victory, some Democrats have expressed frustration and regret with Ossoff being their candidate.

Ossoff received 48.1 percent of the vote in Georgia's 6th district, an affluent Republican area. (You would think Republicans would have learned their lesson by now about having too many candidates after watching the messy presidential primary process a year ago.) Eleven candidates against a solid Democrat pick, one who is receiving tons of outside money, presented a tremendous advantage to Mr. Ossoff.

Democrats have a long-shot chance of taking back control of the House next year and breaking the GOP's monopoly control of Washington.

Weaver said his party would ease rising housing costs in Metro Vancouver by doubling a tax on foreign buyers to 30 per cent. On the Site C dam, Horgan has vowed to review the project, while Weaver said the Green Party would halt the project.

Gov. Nathan Deal has endorsed Karen Handel for the 6th District seat to replace former U.S. Rep. Tom Price, her campaign announced Thursday.

"If you had told any of us, let's be honest, just six weeks ago, that we would get the kind of result we did on Tuesday, we wouldn't have believed it", Ossoff said.

"Only the Republicans could try to define this as a defeat for the Democrats", said Porter.

During today's White House press briefing, Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked to provide the administration's thoughts on yesterday's special House election in Georgia's Sixth District.

As for whether Trump will campaign with Handel, Spicer said: "We'll see if we're needed".

Trump criticised Ossoff on Twitter and said in a robocall that the Democrat would "raise your taxes, destroy your healthcare, and flood our country with illegal immigrants". Mr. Trump won the district by only 1 percentage point over Hillary Clinton in November.
