United Airlines changes employees check-in policy after passenger's forcible removal

The ordeal led to demonstrations at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and turned into a public relations disaster for United Airlines.

Survey respondents were asked to select an American Airlines or United Airlines flight from New York City to Chicago and were presented different scenarios in order to gauge how layovers and price would impact their decision.

United has weathered a string of negative headlines in recent weeks, the most high-profile of which was Chicago aviation officers hauling 69-year-old David Dao off a Louisville-bound flight April 9 while horrified passengers filmed the chaos. Videos of the incident went viral and sparked outrage online.

The air carrier on late Friday said that, henceforth, crew members would be allocated seats at least an hour before departure. She said the change was meant to ensure that episodes like what happened last week "never happen again".

Anti-Defamation League Offers To Educate Sean Spicer On Holocaust
On Tuesday, Spicer said Syria's chemical weapons attack on civilians was worse than anything Hitler did. "I shouldn't have done it and I won't do it again ", Spicer told CNN in an interview.

The rough treatment of Dao sparked global outrage, as well as multiple apologies from the carrier, and raised questions about the overbooking policies of airlines.

The change of policy comes after passenger Dr David Dao lost two front teeth and suffered a broken nose when he was forcibly removed from a flight last Sunday.

Representatives for United Airlines and the city's Law Department did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment on the agreement. United Airlines spokeswoman Megan McCarthy said the passengers could take the compensation in cash, travel credits or miles. It has announced it is reviewing its policies for bumping passengers by April 30 after what chief executive Oscar Munoz described as a "harsh learning experience".

Munoz told ABC that the escalation of the Sunday incident was due in part to the fact that "we have not provided our frontline supervisors and managers and individuals with the proper procedures that would allow them to use their common sense", something he said he believes the airline can fix. Employees first tried to get four volunteers, but when no one gave up their seats for $800 plus a night's stay at a hotel employees started selecting people at random.
