Portland's Nurkic out Game 2, Warriors' Durant questionable

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

"Well, when you get that block at the apex of the rim, of the player's elevation and he's right at the rim, you get a block like that, it energized everybody", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "It's twinged. Throw him out there and he pulls it, and he's out for a few weeks". In addition to Durant, the Wariors could also be playing without Shaun Livingston (finger) and Barnes (ankle sprain) who are also listed as questionable. The Warriors showed on Sunday even though teams can get close, they are still the most risky team in the NBA Playoffs, and they will be a very tough team to knock off in any round.

Naturally, Durant was disappointed, Kerr said.

The Warriors have their eyes on winning the 2017 NBA Finals, and holding Durant out might be the smart move, even if he's healthy enough to take the court. The former Michigan State star proves his worth with Golden State night in and night out, acting as the driving defensive force that the Warriors desperately need.

Durant's absence forced everyone from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to David West and Andre Iguodala to shoulder heavier loads.

On Sunday evening, the Warriors took on the Trail Blazers in a No. 1 vs. "It's twinged", Kerr said. Translated: Portland got good looks, and had its chances. "And me being a young player in this league - they've been around a lot longer - it hits me a little more than it would hit them if they miss a couple shots".

Chicago Bulls: Takeaways From Game 1 Win Over Boston Celtics
There was nothing that prompted Hoiberg to bench Rondo in Game 2 , as he sat for a grand total of just eight minutes on the night. Chicago again used its big men to push the Celtics out of the paint and was quicker to the ball in a lot of 50-50 situations.

Close Modal Window Hang on for a minute.we're trying to find some more stories you might like. By the time Steph Curry and Kevin Durant checked back into the game, Golden State was in command, 103-93. Harden also had nine assists and seven rebounds, and Patrick Beverley had a playoff career-best 21 points along with 10 rebounds for the Rockets.

Game two of the series is Tuesday at the Garden. Portland played again without center Jusuf Nurkic, and missed him. Others will have to step up, but they just wrapped up a huge stretch without KD and found plenty of success.

Counting last season's 4-1 victory in the Western semifinals, Golden State has beaten Portland in 11 of the past 12 contests.

Durant strained his left calf during a Game 1 victory Sunday, when he had 32 points and 10 rebounds in his playoff debut for Golden State.

The second day of NBA Playoffs began with an exciting matchup between the number 1 seed Golden State Warriors against the offensive juggernaut, Portland Trail Blazers. Definitely I want to play.
