'Mississippi Grind' directors sign on for 'Captain Marvel'

After searching through several female directors, Variety reports that the Marvel studio has finally landed on Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to direct their first female-led Marvel Universe film, Captain Marvel.

For CAPTAIN MARVEL, the story of Carol Danvers will be written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.

"With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we've ever put in a movie", Feige said. Their first four films, which include Half Nelson with Ryan Gosling and Mississippi Grind with Ryan Reynolds, have all been independent fare, and they've also directed episodes of TV series like Billions and The Affair.

Academy Award victor Brie Larson has already signed on to play Captain Marvel herself. Furthermore, Boden and Fleck had been in Marvel's orbit in the past having previously been considered to direct Guardians of the Galaxy. It's still too early to say if these teasers will make it to the final cut or if they will even see the light of day beyond its selective audience at Disney Studios. Subsequently, she gains powers such as flight, enhanced strength, damage resistance and the ability to absorb and re-channel energy.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019. On the page, the Captain's adjacent identity, Ms. Marvel, now belongs to Pakistani-American teenager Kamala Khan. We don't know what the plot will entail, who is directing the film, who will play the supporting characters, when the film will be released. and this list goes on and on.

Larson, who won an Oscar for her role in Room, will portray Carol Danvers.

Yesterday, Marvel Studios held an open-house event that showed off some concept art from the film, revealing that Captain Marvel's costume would be a modern take on the character's traditional costume.
