Despite passenger-dragging nightmare, United execs are upbeat about airline's prospects

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz waits to be interviewed in New York during a presentation of the carrier's new Polaris service a new business class product that will become available on trans Atlantic

Dao received a concussion and a broken nose and had two of his teeth knocked out.

Dr. David Dao, the 69-year-old Vietnamese-American doctor who was seen in video being dragged off a United flight a week ago, will likely sue the airline, his attorney said on Thursday.

The statement from a United spokeswoman said the airline offered the couple a discounted hotel rate for the night, and rebooked them on a Sunday morning flight.

Many lawmakers fly home almost every week while Congress is in session, so the United incident hit a raw nerve.

It's not yet clear how the April 9 incident with Dao, which Munoz said occurred due to a "system failure across various areas", will affect the company's business, although the airline's stocks have fallen 3%, losing the company $673 million in market value.

Three staff members had been suspended over the incident.

Airline chief executive Oscar Munoz said he took full responsibility for "making this right" after footage of the incident was criticised widely on social media.

Pence says US set on ensuring nuclear-free Korea
South Korean government officials said Pence's statement did not necessarily mean a complete overhaul of the agreement. Pence in a small group and hearing the vice president's speech to businesspeople at a Tokyo hotel on Wednesday.

The boost is part of the airline industry's response to the global outrage sparked by last week's violent removal of a customer from a United Airlines Chicago flight after he resisted being "bumped" by the carrier. "There was never a consideration for firing an employee".

Dao was one of four passengers removed from the sold-out flight to make room for airline crew members.

Dao's lawyers have taken steps that foreshadow a lawsuit against the airline and the city of Chicago, which operates O'Hare Airport, where the incident took place. The results are expected at the end of April.

But he said the company had not considered sacking anybody over it.

Munoz declined to comment on any other policy changes coming to United Airlines, according to The Tribune.

Lawyers for Mr Dao reported that their client, a physician from Pennsylvania, sought treatment for unspecified injuries at a local hospital following the incident.

"Many of us who fly frequently have experienced overbooking situations", Lipinski said, "but obviously how it was handled in this circumstance was unacceptable, and no passenger should ever be put through what this individual was".
